What’s Your Favorite Anusara® Yoga Teaching?

Do you have a favorite Anusara® teaching? Is it one of those elegant Universal Principles? or a particular aspect of the philosophy? or perhaps you just love the way you feel when you show up on your mat 100% & the empowerment & freedom it brings to you on a spiritual, emotional and physical level?

I really like all of the above. What I like particularly about Anusara® is that it teaches us to embrace the full spectrum of life without clinging or pushing anything. I love that we choose to see everything as the manifestation of the Divine. Just living in that place of encompassing all of life takes away so much struggle. I am able to accept what is without so much discontent and give thanks for the gifts in what ever form they may show up (sometimes, it’s a bit tough to see the gifts & practicing remembrance does help!).

The fact is that: Once we realize that every moment, every place & everyone that compose our life is exactly what we need to expand and grow, only then we begin to cultivate true faith. With that new level of faith, everything is possible.

So, we start on the mat. We ask for grace by chanting the invocation. Om Namah Shivaya Gurave… “Oh! True Teacher within and without, I bow to you”. We come to the teacher and ask for Grace so we can have a revelation of the state of Satchitananda, the Supreme Bliss that arises when we no longer let our mind and our senses dictate our life: “I like this, I don’t like that, I want this, I don’t want that….”

Anusara® is about saying Yes to what comes to us knowing the perfection of every moment. Then we choose the appropriate response to that situation using Universal Principles. Om Namah Shivaya Gurave! We take the humble seat of studentship being open to learn and grow to a new level of radiance so we can share our light with other.
