Anusara Yoga Immersions is for any student who wishes to take their practice to a deeper level. Through focused study of asana (yoga poses) using the Anusara Universal Principles of Alignment, the inspiring Tantric philosophy, and conversation with a supportive community (kula) of like-minded and like-hearted yogis, you will be invited to awaken to your true nature as a spiritual being. This program promises to be a rich and transformative experience!
Anusara Immersion 2011 in North County San Diego is a registered Anusara Yoga® Immersion and complies with the latest curriculum. It is a complete 108 hour course, including module one, two and three. Modules are two weekends each and are sequential and cumulative according to the official Anusara Yoga template. Therefore, partial enrollment is limited to module one. Students who have already completed Immersion module one and two with another certified Anusara Yoga® teacher may join us for the remaining module to complete the course.

The Immersion Curriculum includes but is not limited to:
• Detailed Exploration of the Universal Principles of Alignment

• Pranayama, Meditation, Journaling and Sanskrit
• All Asana from the Anusara’s Level 1 & 2 Syllabus
In each part of the immersion (34 hours) students can expect to receive approximately:
- 10 hours philosophy
- 18 hours asana practice and discussion of methodology
- 3 hours pranayama, meditation and journaling
- 2 hours anatomy
- 1 hour empowerment review

This 108 hour course meets the immersion prerequisites of Anusara Yoga® Certification.
Pre-requisites: 30 class hours of Anusara Yoga. Completion of the previous module is required before taking the next.

Ishwari Jay, certified Anusara yoga teacher, has been a student of yoga and tantric philosophy since 1991 and studied all main scriptures of classical yoga, vedanta and tantra in various ashrams including 2 years in India with her spiritual master, Gurumayi Chidvilasananda. She met John Friend in 1994, three years before he founded Anuasara yoga and followed his teachings and the Anusara path since the very beginning. Her love, passion and deep knowledge for Anusara and the tantric philosophy of intrinsic goodness is contagious.
Christopher Wallis has been exposed to Indian spirituality from the age of six and was initiated into the practice of meditation and yoga at the age of 16. He now has 18 years of practice, 11 years of study, and 10 years of teaching experience. His degrees include a B.A. in Religion from the University of Rochester, an M.A. in Sanskrit from U.C. Berkeley, and an M.Phil. in Classical Indian Religions from the University of Oxford. He is currently earning a third masters from U.C. Santa Barbara, as well as doing doctoral research at Berkeley on the traditions of Tantric Shaivism. He received traditional education at yoga āshramas in upstate New York and India in meditation, kirtan, mantra-science, asana, karma-yoga, and more. He currently teaches meditation, yoga darshana (philosophy), Sanskrit, chanting, and sometimes offers spiritual life-coaching.

After struggling finding the right place for this immersion, Ishwari decided to use her home: perfect open space with wood floor and alters with statues of deities everywhere.
